Plastic Surgery Procedures Sydney

Face, breast, body and gender affirming surgery in Sydney.

Five areas of practice, one considered approach.

Dr Maryam Seyedabadi is a Specialist Plastic Surgeon and Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, practising across five areas: facial surgery, breast surgery, body surgery, genital plastic surgery, and gender affirming surgery. Some of this work is reconstructive, some of it is cosmetic, and a good deal of it sits somewhere in between.

Whichever area brings you here, the process is the same. You will have an unhurried consultation with Dr Maryam, a physical assessment relevant to what you are considering, and a clear explanation of your options, the risks involved, the recovery, and what surgery can and cannot change. Nothing is assumed, and you are not asked to decide on the day.

What actually happens

Your Journey, Step by Step

Consultation

An open, unhurried conversation with Dr Maryam about what has changed, what is concerning you, and what you are hoping to achieve, whether that is function, appearance, or both. This is also where your medical history and any previous procedures are discussed.

Assessment

A physical examination relevant to the procedure you are considering, covering the anatomy involved and any factors that affect your suitability. Preoperative photographs are taken as a standard part of planning, with your consent.

Your Plan

Everything from your consultation and assessment comes together into a plan personalised to you: which procedure or combination suits you, what it will and will not change, the risks involved, and a realistic picture of the result.

Before your consultation

Common questions, answered plainly.

Do I need a referral to see Dr Maryam?

For cosmetic surgical procedures in Australia, a referral from your GP or another registered medical practitioner is required before your first consultation. For reconstructive procedures and skin cancer surgery, a referral also allows you to claim any Medicare rebate you may be eligible for. If you are unsure which applies to you, call the practice on 1300 067 668 and the team will talk you through it.

What happens at the first consultation?

You will have an unhurried conversation with Dr Maryam about what has changed and what you are hoping to achieve, followed by a physical assessment relevant to the procedure you are considering. She will explain the options, the risks and the likely recovery, and you will leave with written information to take away.

Where does Dr Maryam operate?

Dr Maryam consults and operates across five Sydney locations: St Luke’s Hospital in Potts Point, East Sydney Private Hospital in Woolloomooloo, Sydney Day Hospital in the CBD, The Skin Hospital in Darlinghurst, and Double Bay Hospital. The right location depends on the procedure and your anaesthetic requirements.

Is there a cooling off period before surgery?

Yes. For cosmetic surgical procedures a cooling off period applies between your consultation and your surgery date, so you have time to consider the information you have been given. Dr Maryam will confirm the timeframe that applies to your procedure at your consultation.
